Problem

Meet Laura, a soon-to-be-retired healthcare IT professional, longtime Tahoe visitor, and owner of a 3-bedroom property in Tahoe Vista, California.

Running rentals is something of a family tradition for Laura, who grew up watching and helping her mother manage properties from a young age. But the Tahoe house is something truly special–this property was built by Laura’s family and was run as a short-term rental exclusively for friends and family in its early years. Because of this, it’s safe to say that Laura has always had a close connection to the home.

About 7 years ago, management of the Tahoe property was placed entirely into Laura’s hands. However, within a year of dealing with all the work that comes along with self-management, she knew she couldn’t do it all on her own, so she hired a property management company to help her.

Go Local

When LocalVR bought Laura’s old property management company, Laura was unsure if she wanted to stay. But on the advice of her current management team, she decided to make the leap and see if LocalVR would be the right fit for her special Tahoe home.

As soon as we met with Laura, we could see how important the Tahoe rental was to her, and we assured her we would take care of it like it was our own. We wanted to go above and beyond to satisfy her worries about property upkeep, so we let her know that we would implement maintenance inspections and give her a chance to report any maintenance issues herself on the Owner’s Portal. We also educated her on LocalVR’s top-notch communication, and she was happy to hear that her own personal account manager would be there to address any of her concerns.

After our conversation, Laura knew that she only had one path forward–to Stay Local.

Solution

To kick off Laura’s onboarding, we quickly implemented a few of our proprietary processes.

Our first priority was to maintain the level of communication that Laura had with her old management company, so we assigned her a dedicated account manager who was there to answer any questions, no matter when they arose. We also created a customized property inspection checklist to aid our comprehensive post-checkout inspections, ensuring that any maintenance issues would be addressed as soon as possible and Laura’s property would be kept in the best shape possible for years to come.

In 2023, Laura’s rental boasted an average rate of $263.97 per night, with an occupancy rate of 45.02%. To say Laura has been pleased with our property management services would be no exaggeration, as she says that when she calls, she always knows the person on the other end of the line.

Take Laura’s

Word For It

After years of being happy with another property manager, she didn’t think she could find the same feeling again, but she is infinitely grateful that she Stayed Local.

“When I call, I get people I’m familiar with, and when I ask for assistance, LocalVR is quick to respond and help.”
