A Romantic Trip to North Lake Tahoe: A Couple’s Itinerary

An Itinerary For Couples Heading To North Lake Tahoe

There are few places more awe-inspiring than Lake Tahoe. Whether you’re looking to reignite the spark between you and your love with a romantic trip or you’re celebrating a wedding or special anniversary, you can’t go wrong with a trip to Tahoe’s beautiful shores.

If you’re hoping to find ideas for an intimate vacation, we’re here to help with a three-day itinerary to recapture that honeymoon feeling.

Day One: Relax and Pamper Yourself in Style

Depending on the place you call home, traveling into Tahoe can be a long journey. Even the trek from the airport to the lake can take a lot out of you, so we recommend starting off your trip with a day set aside to decompress and unwind.

Once you get going in the morning, stop by the Firesign Cafe in Tahoe City for some French toast before jetting up the road to the Lighthouse Spa in Tahoe Vista for a bit of much-needed pampering. They offer a great couple’s massage as well as an abundance of skincare and body treatments to help you relax and feel amazing while doing so.

After a blissful morning spent focusing on your inner serenity, grab lunch at the gorgeous Lone Eagle Grille, located just down the road in Incline Village. This restaurant is cozy and conveniently located on the lakefront, offering incredible views for you and your love. If you’re looking to up the romance factor, after lunch is a great time to take the 40-minute trip to Carson City Hot Springs and soak in one of their nine mineral-rich hot spring pools.

For dinner, stop in at The Soule Domain in Kings Beach on the way back to your lodgings. You won’t be disappointed with this fine-dining restaurant, which has won the title of “Best Place to Take a Date” for thirteen years running.

Day Two: Hit the Slopes With Your Love

Let’s face it: if you’re coming to Tahoe during the wintertime, you have to spend at least one day on the slopes.

Start your morning off right with a visit to the Old Post Office Cafe in Tahoe Vista, a breakfast mainstay for Tahoe locals that offers a cozy ambiance for you and your spouse to enjoy. After filling your belly, head fifteen minutes up the road to Northstar California Resort to begin your skiing or boarding adventures. With 100 trails to enjoy spread out over 3,000 skiable acres, there’s something for everyone at this ski resort.

For lunch, we recommend grabbing a quick bite to eat at Inclined Burger, located in the Northstar Mountain Village. If you’re craving an apres-ski drink, head on over to The Overlook for a mountain-made cocktail.

After a day of skiing or boarding with your partner, head back to your lodgings to warm up, shower, and get ready for another romantic night out ahead. For those looking to up the romance factor to bring back some honeymoon magic, travel to Christy Hill Restaurant in Tahoe Vista. Not only does this spot offer some of the best Tahoe views around, it also has an incredible menu that will blow your taste buds away.

Day Three: Enjoy the Great Outdoors

On your last day of a romantic getaway to Lake Tahoe’s northern shores, it’s time to get out and enjoy the great outdoors in every way possible.

For breakfast, get in a hearty meal at Spindleshanks Restaurant in Kings Beach. If you happen to be visiting during the summertime, this restaurant is within spitting distance of the Old Brockway Golf Course for those who want to get in a few holes on the green.

After breakfast, head on up Highway 267 to meet up with your guide at Lake Tahoe Snowmobile Tours for a two-hour mountain adventure. Explore the backcountry by way of snowmobile and set your sights on some gorgeous mountain vistas with your love.

You might be tuckered out after your snowmobile tour, but it’s more than worth it to grab a delicious lunch at Whitecaps Pizza in Kings Beach. For those couples who can’t get enough of the great outdoors, after lunch is a great time to hike or snowshoe the Chickadee Ridge Trail, a 2.4 mile trail located not too far down the road in Incline Village.

Once you’ve had a chance to dry off and warm up after your day spent out in the winter conditions, end off your romantic Tahoe vacation with a visit to Truckee’s Pianeta Ristorante, a high-end Italian and Mediterranean restaurant. Enjoy handmade pasta made fresh every day at this intimate fine-dining spot.

See Why Tahoe is One of the Most Romantic Destinations on the Planet
