Take a Once-In-A-Lifetime Dip at Homestead Crater Hot Springs

Homestead Crater, located on the Homestead Resort property in Midway around 30 minutes from Park City, is like no other geothermal hot spring in Utah. This 10,000 year-old natural spring is found in a unique location: inside of a 55-foot volcano-shaped mass of limestone rock. It’s hard not to be awed when you enter this one-of-a-kind geological wonder, with the sun shining through the hole overhead and the calm, sparkling waters below you staying at a comfortable 95 degrees year-round. Unlike many other hot springs, Homestead Crater is large enough to handle a few different water activities aside from swimming, like SCUBA diving, snorkeling, and stand up paddle boarding.

Soak in the warm mineral waters of this geological oddity and you’ll understand why it’s one of the most serene spots in all of Utah.

Hike to a Hot Spring Waterfall at Fifth Water Hot Springs

If you’re willing to go to great lengths for a tranquil hot springs experience, the hike to Fifth Water Hot Springs will be right up your alley. Located about 75 miles south of Park City, this 5-mile roundtrip hike is studded with steaming mineral pools and even a hot spring waterfall that will take your breath away. The water is a bracing 111 degrees at its source, but there are a few pools to choose from, each with its own water temperature.

For those of you visiting Park City during the wintertime, it’s easy to take a trip to these pools year-round if you have a 4x4 vehicle, since the trail is typically packed down well enough that snowshoes aren’t needed. If you’re planning to hike the trail during the summer, be sure to arrive early to beat the crowds and get parking by the trailhead.

Experience Hot Spring Family Fun at Crystal Hot Springs

Around 100 miles north of Park City lies one of the most family-friendly hot springs in all of Utah: Crystal Hot Springs.

Despite its name, there are actually two natural springs on the property, one hot and one cold. The hot spring boasts the highest mineral content of any natural spring in the world (46,000 mg/L) and stays a blazing 120-134 degrees year-round, while the nearby cold spring offers waters between 65-75 degrees.

A combination of these two springs are used to fill the Olympic-sized swimming pool, the large soaker pool, and the three mineral hot tubs that Crystal Hot Springs provides for patrons. There’s also a gorgeous man-made waterfall on the property as well, so you can sit beneath it and feel the warm water coursing over you, inviting ultimate relaxation.

Go Scuba Diving at Belmont Hot Springs RV Park

For anyone who is exploring Utah by way of an RV, a stop at Belmont Hot Springs RV Park is well worth the two-hour drive from Park City. This one-of-a-kind RV Park not only offers all the typical RV amenities, such as water, sewer, and electric hookups, but also boasts two hot spring pools as well, which stay between 97 and 104 degrees no matter what time of year you visit.

Enjoy incredible Northern Utah mountain views as you relax in these serene waters. Or, if you’re looking for more of an adventure, get your SCUBA certification at Belmont, which provides the rare opportunity for patrons to get their certification in a deep hot spring. There’s even a sunken ship in one of the pools, which provides endless fun for anyone testing out their SCUBA gear at Belmont. Plus, once you’re done enjoying the warm waters of the springs, there’s plenty of other things to do at the RV park, including a 9-hole golf course, endless miles of trails, and a pond that’s great for fishing.
